Francesca Woodman Microsite

Francesca Woodman played with the idea of intimate space in her work, which is something I wanted to convey when creating a microsite for her retrospective at SFMOMA. The site is delicate, both the in the faded treatment of type and image, as well as in the color. These choices feel appropriate in creating a space to host her work.

This microsite explores the capabilities of designing for the web by using three dimensions and space, as opposed the mimicking the flat dimensionality that exists when designing for print, on the web. Playing with dimensionality, each one of the photographs lives in its own realm on the site, pushing the concept of intimate spaces, and allowing each photograph to live both on its own as well as paired with the curated collection.
