Save the Night Identity System

Design Challenge: "Save the Night" was created to address the increased light pollution in urban areas, and around the world. Living in a city I realized how disconnected I had become from the night sky, from nature and from life outside the city.

Target Audience: People living in cities, where light pollution is the most prevalent.

The Solution: I took a poetic approach to this cause because all the existing information is scientific and lacking connection with the people who are experiencing light pollution every day. Save the Night is a more sophisticated take to visually address the issue of light pollution, an approach that will speak to the targeted audience. The use of muted colors, collage style imagery, and poetic copy all speak to the need for a different visual language than what currently exists. The cause cumulates in an event called "Save the Night" which is inspired by the Bay Area's "Save the Air Days."
